If you missed it, we recently launched this new one-of-a-kind program to help do our part in mitigating textile waste and can now accept your used tentree pieces once you’re done loving them. You can get the full low down on the program here.
Whatever your reason for parting ways, you can now send your clothes back to us, and we’ll keep them circulating, reselling them in our consignment shop or mindfully recycling them if needed.
We’ve made it easy to get your clothing back to us, but here are a few questions that have come up along the way.

Q: What is Circularity by tentree?
Circularity by tentree is our new take-back program that repurposes and recycles your old tentree clothing so that nothing goes to waste.
Our current way of wearing and throwing away clothing has taken a big toll on our planet. A garbage truck full of textile waste is thrown into landfills every second, where it can take up to 200 years to decompose. By reselling and recycling our community’s old clothes, we can take accountability for our products even after they’ve been sold, and keep them out of landfills.
Q: How does it work?
The process is easy: just create an account with our partner SuperCircle to start building your digital closet. Once you’ve lived your best life in your tentree clothing, request a free shipping label from your account and send your items back. Your clothes will be assessed and either resold through our consignment store or recycled into new materials. Nothing gets thrown away.
Plus, as an added bonus, each time you return your well-worn tentree clothing, we’ll send you tentree Rewards that you can use towards future purchases.
Q: Who are SuperCircle and Treet?
To make this program a reality, we’ve partnered with SuperCircle and Treet, two companies specializing in keeping textile waste out of landfills.
Here’s how they work together to keep your clothes in circulation: once you drop your package off, it makes its way to SuperCircle’s warehouse where they process and evaluate the item’s condition. If everything looks good, they pass your items along to Treet, who will list them for sale in our consignment shop. In the event that pieces aren’t in resale condition, SuperCircle will mindfully recycle them.
Q: How do I get started?
Create an account with our partner SuperCircle. Your pre-loved clothing will be shipped to their warehouse, where they evaluate its condition to determine whether it will be resold or mindfully recycled.
Throughout the process, it’s important to note that you’ll be receiving emails from SuperCircle, so make sure they don’t end up in your spam folder.
If you aren’t returning an item at this time, explore our consignment shop to find the perfect, pre-loved tentree piece.
Q: What is a digital closet?
Once you’ve created a SuperCircle account, your digital closet will display all the items you’ve purchased directly from tentree.com or tentree.ca.
If you purchased your tentree items a long time ago or from a retailer, they likely will not appear in your digital closet. In that case, it’s still possible to send these items back we’ll just need to ask you a few questions to determine what kind of item you’re returning.
Q: Can I send you any clothing I’m no longer wearing?
Yes. In addition to your old tentree pieces, we’re now accepting pre-loved clothing from ANY brand.
Q: What condition does my tentree clothing have to be in?
Any condition. Rips, tears, baby or pet stains – we’ll take it. Please send back your items clean and laundered.
Q: Besides clothing, what other pre-loved items can be returned through the Circularity by tentree program?
Through our Circularity program, we can accept any textile items, including hats, scarves, bags, and blankets. We also accept clean masks and socks, but these will be automatically sorted to be recycled, not resold.
The only thing we can not take back for hygiene reasons is underwear.
Q: Can I send back more than one item at once?
Yes! We encourage you to send back more than one item at a time. Shipping has a carbon footprint, so the more items you ship together, the lower the footprint. To get your shipping label, log in to your SuperCircle account and select all the pieces you’re sending back from your digital closet. Just remember that you can only have one active shipment at a time.
Q: How long do I have to ship my tentree pieces back once I receive my shipping label?
Once you have selected your items and downloaded your shipping label, you have 14 days to ship your items. If they aren’t shipped within this time frame, you may have to start again and download a new label.
Q: What happens once I drop off my package?
As soon as you drop your package off, you’ll receive an email from SuperCircle with tentree Rewards. Rewards are valid for 90 days and can be used towards future purchases.
Your package will make its way to our partner SuperCircle’s warehouse where they process and evaluate the item’s condition. If everything looks good, they pass your items along to Treet, who will list them for sale in our consignment shop. In the event that pieces aren’t in resale condition, SuperCircle will mindfully recycle them.
Q: How does Circularity by tentree benefit the environment?
The fashion industry has a big problem with waste, and unless dealt with properly, our used clothes can end up being part of the problem. Studies show that approximately 85% of all textiles end up in landfills or incinerated. This percentage equates to a truckload of clothes being burnt or sent to landfills every second.
Once there, garments can take up to 200+ years to break down and do a whole lot of harm to the environment along the way. Unfortunately, even clothing donation has its issues – with many donated items being shipped to countries where the sheer volume of exported clothing has suppressed local clothing industries.
Our circularity program allows us to take accountability for the items we produce and divert them away from landfills. By keeping your tentree pieces in circulation and doubling the life of your clothes, you can reduce a single garment’s carbon footprint by roughly 44 percent. And for those pieces that can’t be resold, we can mindfully recycle them, giving them a new lease of life.
Q: What happens to my items if they can’t be resold?
This looks like either upcycling your clothing into new yarn and eventually textiles (think recycled denim, tees, etc.) or downcycling them into other mixed-use items (think insulation, padding for sports equipment, etc.) In addition to these paths, a small amount of difficult-to-recycle material will be incinerated to create energy. Although this is better than going to landfills, we know it’s not an ideal solution, and we’re already working to improve the recyclability of our new product designs to avoid it in the future. Whatever path your clothing takes, we guarantee it stays out of landfills and finds a second life.
Q: I bought my tentree item through another retailer. Can I still send it back?
Yes! You can send back tentree items purchased at any of our retail partners.
These items won’t appear automatically in your SuperCircle digital closet, so we’ll need to ask you a few questions to determine what kind of item you’re returning. If you haven’t already, you’ll also need to create an account at tentree.com or tentree.ca so you can redeem your tentree Rewards.
Q: Why should I shop the consignment store for pre-loved tentree items?
Buying secondhand is good for the environment and your wallet. Circularity by tentree allows you to purchase great pre-loved pieces at a reduced price and reduce the impact per wear even further (while ensuring nothing goes to waste).
Q. Can I use my Rewards to buy pre-loved tentree items from the consignment store?
Currently, Rewards can only be redeemed on tentree.com or tentree.ca within 90 days of receiving them.
Q. Will my Rewards expire?
Rewards are valid for 90 days and can be used towards future tentree purchases.
Q. Is Circularity by tentree available internationally?
Right now, Circularity by tentree is only available in the US and Canada.
